Every single registered domain has a minimum of 2 Name Server records that show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain to the servers of a certain web hosting company. That way, you've got both your website and your e-mails handled by the same provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), on the other hand, there are lots of other records, like A and MX. The former shows which server manages the website for a given domain name and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter reveals which server handles the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For example, any time you enter a domain in your web browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain uses and from there you may be forwarded to the servers of another company if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain. Having independent records for the website and the emails means you can have your website and your e-mails with two different providers if you would like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Website Hosting

If you have a cloud website hosting service through our company, you will be able to view, create and change any A or MX record for your domains. Assuming that a particular Internet domain has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to change specific records using our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your site or e-mails directed to another company if you wish to use only one of our services. Our leading-edge tool will even enable you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted elsewhere by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain address at all. If you want to use the email services of a different company and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do it with only a few clicks in the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can also set different latency for every MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and modifying the A or MX records for any one of your domain addresses or subdomains is incredibly easy if you get a semi-dedicated server plan from our company. The accounts are maintained through our in-house built Hepsia CP, which has a section committed to the DNS records of your domain names. The latter will be listed alphabetically and you may click on any one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Modifying any record is as easy as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even if you have never dealt with such matters before, you won't experience any difficulties if you choose to direct your website or e-mails to an alternative company while keeping the second service with our company. If required, you can also set up additional MX records and set a specific priority depending on the recommendations of the new provider.
